Jane Rosenberg is the author and illustrator of DANCE ME A STORY: Twelve Tales from the Classic Ballets (Thames & Hudson, introduction by Merrill Ashley), SING ME A STORY: The Metropolitan Opera’s Book of Opera Stories for Children (Thames & Hudson, introduction by Luciano Pavarotti), and PLAY ME A STORY: A Child’s Introduction to Classical Music Through Stories and Poems (Knopf).  Also for the Metropolitan Opera, a note-card series: SCENES OF THE OPERAS and for Los Angeles Opera LA BOHEME, an online flip book.

Her illustrations and fine art have been exhibited in New York (Master Eagle Gallery, Judith Christian Gallery, 55 Mercer Gallery), Los Angeles (Every Picture Tells A Story), and Las Vegas (Summerlin Library and Performing Arts Center) and in traveling exhibitions across the country, as well as appearing in Scholastic publications and a variety of books and national magazines.

Jane writes opera and dance reviews, covering performances in Los Angeles, for SEEN AND HEARD INTERNATIONAL, a London based website

Her television writing credits include: Co-creator of MYTHQUEST, a one-hour primetime fantasy-adventure series for PBS and development of THE FLYING PIZZA OPERA COMPANY, a children’s classical music program, for Gary Rowe Productions for public television.

 Jane was born in New York City where she received a master’s degree in painting from New York University. A large part of her education happened in downtown galleries and uptown museums. Her love of dance developed at a young age and her interest in opera ripened from attending productions at New York City Opera and the Met. Jane now lives in Los Angeles. She and her husband, the writer and artist, Robert Porter, have three daughters.
